DESCRIPTION:Come join PSPS for a EcoWalk in Pacific Spirit Park led by Ryan Regier!\nDuring this walk you will learn about Aspen Groves\, one of Pacific Spirit Park’s key preservation priorities\, and what makes them so unique in this forest. \nAspen Groves have been recently come to be understood as one single interconnected tree instead of individuals. On the walk we will talk about Pando\, an Aspen Forest in Utah that is maybe the largest and oldest living being in the world. \nThe Pacific Spirit Park Pando has been forgotten since the 90s and most of the stems have died. However\, our Pacific Pando is still surviving but now hidden in the forest around it. Come join this walk and help the Park Society count its living stems and try to put together the mystery of how old and large it is. \nFor more information\, please visit the Meetup Event Page. DESCRIPTION:Forest Harmonies is a lovely mid-summer event where the forest is the backdrop for the sounds of nature and music. Participants stroll along the forest trails in Pacific Spirit Regional Park listening to musicians\, testing a variety of  instruments\, exploring interpretation stations to learn about nature’s forest music makers\, and finally joining the sing-along with the Forest Choir. \nThis free event is organized by Metro Vancouver Regional Parks (MVRP) and several volunteers from Pacific Spirit Park Society (PSPS). \nAn event like this needs Site Volunteers to help things run smoothly. SUMMARY:Camosun Bog Restoration Group Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Come join Pacific Spirit Park Society’s (PSPS) Camosun Bog Restoration Group (CBRG) for some hands-on restoration of Camosun bog. \nWe will meet by the Camosun Bog duck pond. The boardwalk forms a circle around the duck pond in the middle of the bog\, and we typically meet on the North side – see map below. \n \nGloves and equipment are provided but please come dressed appropriately for the weather. \nAt 11:30am “tea time” is served and volunteers have a chance to chat while enjoying snacks & a beverage. \nPlease send an email to our Volunteer and Program Coordinator\, contact details below\, if it is your first CBRG session as we are only accepting a few new volunteers at this time. No RSVP needed for returning members\, we will sign you in when you get there. \nUnder 19? Please make sure to have the Parent or Guardian Permission Form signed and returned to us.

We are continuing our work to remove invasive species at the Acadia Forest site in Pacific Spirit Park. \nTools and gloves will be provided. Please bring sturdy boots and dress for the weather as we will be getting dirty rain or shine! SUMMARY:First Annual Bat Count
DESCRIPTION:Come join Pacific Spirit Park Society (PSPS) to volunteer for our first annual bat count! We will be meeting before sunset in Foreshore Park along North West Marine Drive\, to monitor and count the bats as they leave our active bat box. The bat boxes were installed a few years ago\, and we are looking to get more information on the population of bats that inhabit them. The data collected will be shared with Bats BC\, as part of their larger population survey of bats across British Columbia. \nPlease bring a lawn chair to sit and watch the bats as they exit the bat box\, and a headlamp as it will get dark. A warm sweater or blanket is also a good idea to bring to stay warm. Snacks and refreshments will be served for volunteers. \nFor more information\, please visit our Meetup Event Page.
